Mattha Ann (Soules) Metcalf went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2025, just 17 days short of her 81st birthday. She was 80 years old. Martha Ann was born on August 31, 1944, in Delta, Colorado. She attended and graduated from school in Delta in 1962. On February 14, 1965, Valentine’s Day, she married Sherman Metcalf. They celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Martha Ann was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God (Rivers Church) in Delta, except for the seven years that she and Sherman spent in Fruita, Colorado. Martha was very involved in her church. She taught toddlers’ Sunday School for many years. She also taught Missionettes (Impact Girls) for over 30 years. Martha Ann was also a seamstress and made many wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She made over 90% of the costumes for the Easter plays that ran for several years at Rivers Church, updating several of them each year.

Martha Ann worked at several jobs over her lifetime, including being a Certified Medical Record Technician for Delta County Memorial Hospital, Office Manager for Dr. R.J. Bennett, Bookkeeper for Comet Drug, and co-owner with her husband of Comet Christian Books and Gifts with an old-fashioned soda fountain in Delta. Martha loved to entertain and serve meals. She would invite any visiting group of singers that were visiting our church, fix meals for the youth group, and fix elaborate meals for family and friends for any occasion. She was always in the background when serving, not wanting any of the limelight.

Martha Ann is survived by her husband, Sherman, of 60 years, children, Cara Lynn (Tracy) McWilliams of Midland, Texas and Larry Lee Metcalf of Denver Colo. Grand Children Destry McWilliams of Midland, Texas, Hunter (Allye) McWilliams of Midland Texas, Easton Metcalf of Shakopee, Minnesota, Lauryn Metcalf of Delta, Colorado and Dimitri Metcalf of Denver Colorado. She is also survived by one great-grandchild, Alexander McWilliams of Midland, Texas. Martha is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Jo (Terris) McCombs of Austin, Colorado, and Beulah Faye Hines of Delta, Colorado, and one brother, Edward (Lois) Soules of Austin, Colorado. Martha is also survived by many relatives and friends. Martha was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Edward Soules, her mother, Mary Queen (Halbrooks) Soules, two sisters, Reba Mae (Soules) Wiley, and Betty Jean (Soules) Harris.
