Submitted by Maureen Edmonds
A remarkable event took place in Dearborn, Michigan, on January 30, 1943, when Marion made her grand entrance as the beloved daughter of Salvatore and Anne Ascione. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and a comforting warmth. She met her soulmate, Donald Edmonds, in the most romantic setting—Big Boys in Michigan. Sparks ignited, and on April 11, 1964, they tied the knot, embarking on a nearly 62-year journey fueled by love. Mark your calendars for April 11, 2026, to celebrate this extraordinary love story at her Celebration of Life.
The curtain gently fell on March 3, 2026, as Marion Frances Edmonds (Ascione) gracefully departed this world at the age of 83 at Hope West Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Even in the face of dementia and other challenges, Marion’s joy and kindness shone brightly, serving as a beacon to all who knew her. A true treasure to her family and friends, she was well-known for her generosity and infectious happiness.
Despite the progression of dementia, her family cherished every joyful moment, from her sparkling eyes in response to familiar melodies to her radiant smile during storytelling. Marion’s legacy of love is forever etched in the hearts of those she touched, standing as a testament to her unyielding spirit.
The heartfelt announcement of Marion’s passing beautifully portrays a life rich in love and the deep connections she nurtured throughout her journey. She is now reunited with her beloved parents, Salvatore Enrico Ascione and Anne Nelse Ascione (Wagman), her sister Betty Jo Paulos (Ascione), and her devoted husband Donald Edmonds, who welcomed her with open arms on the other side.
Marion’s legacy is a tapestry woven with warmth and affection, carried on by her daughter Maureen Edmonds-Gentes, son-in-law Joshua Gentes, and her cherished grandchildren, Jared Edmonds, Brett and Jessica Hodson, and Tanner Gentes. Her family tree extends further, with siblings Tobi and Frank Ascione sharing in the sorrow, while her great-grandchildren—Kierra, Elijah, Alexis, Mykkayla, Darren, Aryen, Liam, Aurora, Emberlynn, Holden, Ellie, Carson, and Oliela—continue to honor her memory.
