A Loving Tribute

Lynn & Kitty Lange

A special tribute to my grandparents…..

I said a prayer for you today and know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart although He spoke no word. I didn’t ask for wealth or fame; I knew you wouldn’t mind. I asked Him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind. I asked that He’d be near you at the start of each new day, to grant you health, blessings, and friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you in all things great and small, but it was for His love care I prayed for most of all. – this prayer is on a keepsake that my grandma Kitty gave me before I left for college, right after my Papa died, and it is something that I will cherish forever.

Catherine “Kitty” Louise (Rowell) & Linvall James Lange were both Western Colorado Natives. Linvall was born on May 14, 1937, and grew up and attended school in Grand Junction, Colorado. Kitty was born April 15, 1941, and from Paonia, Colorado, and attended and graduated from Paonia High School in 1959. They were married on June 26, 1960. It was said that Papa would drive his moped to Paonia to go on dates with Kitty. They had three kids, Danny, Debbie (Bock) & Randy Lange, who all found their way back to living close in Grand Junction.

I was blessed with the opportunity to grow up with my grandparents, so involved in my childhood. Family and being together was important to them. We all had dinner together every Saturday; Hamburger Night. No matter what was going, on we were all there, every Saturday, for Hamburgers or Made rights. Grandma and Papa’s house was the best place to have sleepovers. We would get “the dry stuff,” better known as pot roast, for dinner and money shaped pancakes for breakfast. I miss seeing my Papa leaning on the fence, waving as you pull up. And them being a part of my life every day. They had a caring love that lasts a lifetime and left a mark on everyone lucky to have them in their life.

Linvall died May 18, 2008, in his home, surrounded by family, and Kitty, on May 10, 2009, with her family at the HopeWest Care Center.
