A Loving Tribute

Arla Franke

January 8, 1932 – September 11, 2023
Submitted by Divian Pierson
Arla was a gentile, kind mother, grandmother, and wife. She had an amazing life of 91 3/4 years and saw many changes during her lifetime. She was born in a sod house of dirt and grass. As a child, she picked peaches in Palisade and canned them over an open flame fire. She raised her daughter Divian and her son Russel.

As a historian she kept many records and scrapbooks. She sewed many quilts for her grandchildren Rustin, Brian, and Justin. She enjoyed being entertained by her great-granddaughters, Brooke, and Kacie.

She resided in Glenwood Springs, CO, and was the 4-H leader and was a Holy Cross Lutheran Church member for forty-five years. She retired to Grand Junction, CO, and continued her adventures of fishing, canning, baking, and pinochle playing.

Upon the death of her husband Roy after sixty-six years, she became a snowbird, wintered in Arizona, and spent the summers in Grand Junction, Co.

Celebration of Life was held at the Lutheran Church and school of Messiah on September 24 at 1:00 p.m.
