Julie Ann Hutto passed away at the age of 51 on Saturday May 17, 2025 after a two year battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by loved ones in her home in Grand Junction, CO.
Julie was many things, but first and foremost she was a mother. She loved her four kids Hayley, Hannah, Hayden, and Harley more than anything.
Julie was born in Grand Junction, CO on January 16, 1974 to Robert and Susan Pond. She grew up in the Grand Junction and Palisade area and she graduated from Palisade High School in 1992. She later married her high school sweetheart, Darry Hutto on May 29, 1993 and had four children. They spent 25 years married before separating.
Julie devoted her time to being a mother and would spend every moment she could with her children including volunteering her time to coach her kids’ little league teams where she also made an impact on many young softball players lives. Julie later began working at Caprock Academy as a teacher aide and was adored by her students. Julie ended her career as an Administrative Assistant for the State of Colorado at Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Julie could always be found at home with her family while taking care of her pets and flowers. She also enjoyed going to the mountains and the beach and always made the holidays special for her family.
Julie was diagnosed with cancer beginning of June 2023. She fought bravely and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Julie was preceded in death by her father Robert Pond, her grandmother Vern Pond, and her nephew Collin Sowell. She is survived by her 3 daughters Hayley Mancuso (Brian), Hannah Hutto, and Harley Hutto, and her son Hayden Hutto; her mother Susan Pond; her sister Katie Schmedeke (Bill), brother Sean Pond (Danielle), and sister Jennifer Mendenhall; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Many people were touched by Julie’s kind soul, her smile, and her love for life. Her absence is felt deeply by all who were close to her.
There will be an open house Celebration of Life at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens in the Rose Garden/Front Lawn on Thursday June 19, 2025 between 6-8 pm. This will be followed by a private reception for family. The family asks for everyone to wear floral or pastel colors to honor Julie. There is limited seating so please bring your own lawn chair if needed.
