Frances Alice Drake nee Johnson

Frances Alice Drake was born in Mesa, Colorado, to Frank and Bertha Johnson. She attended 12 years of school at Mesa School and graduated Valedictorian of her class of 1945. After graduation, Frances moved to Grand Junction to work and soon after started at the AEC, where she continued until the war’s end.

Frances met Jack W. Drake during this time, and they married in March of 1947. They were married for 66 years and raised 3 children. During 20 years of their retirement, she and Jack traveled to many parts of the US, attending Seabee reunions from Jack’s time in the Navy. They also enjoyed dancing and socializing at the Grand Junction Elks Club, where they were both members until Jack’s passing in 2013.

Frances is survived by her 3 children, Cathy, Steve (Loretta), and Ed, as well as one brother from Nevada.

Frances will be interred with her mother in Palisade. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers,Johnson Obit Text donations can be made in her name at HopeWest.
