Un homenaje amoroso

David Charles Ravanelli

July 14, 1941 – August 7, 2025
Submitted by Claudia Ravanelli

David Charles Ravanelli left his earthly home on August 7, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Dave or “Mr. Rav” as his students called him, was born in Trinidad, CO on July 14, 1941, to Charles and Blanche Ravanelli. He graduated from Trinidad High School Class of 1959 and then from Trinidad State Junior College. Thereafter, he pursued and received several advanced degrees at Adams State University, Alamosa, University of Colorado, Boulder, Western Colorado University, Gunnison, and Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, CA.  He was a lifelong teacher.

Dave is survived by his son, Daniel Alexander Ravanelli, his wife of 35 years, Claudia, and two granddaughters, together with Claudia’s extended family.  His mother and father, as well as his stepdaughter, Deborah, preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved puppy, Itzy, who misses him terribly.

Mr. Rav was an educator and counsellor in School District 70, Pueblo, for 32 years, serving at Pleasant View Middle School and Pueblo County High School. He was an ardent fisherman, spending more than 50 years of summers primarily at Blue Mesa Reservoir and deep-sea fishing as often as possible off Cabo San Lucas.   He taught hunter safety education for over 30 years as well.

As an artist and educator, he was so proud of his students, several of whom became successful artists and entrepreneurs. As a fine artist, sculptor, jeweler, and potter, he created many beautiful art pieces.  After retirement, he moved to Santa Fe, NM, and designed and built a large double adobe traditional Pueblo Style home there.  Dave and Claudia enjoyed collecting art and enjoyed the history and culture of the Southwest. After Claudia retired, they moved to the Western Slope and made their home in Grand Junction, where they lived until his passing.

At his request, no formal services will be held at this time.  Cremation has occurred.

The family extends their eternal gratitude to Dr. Daniel Sullivan, the medical team at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Hopewest Hospice for their incredible care.
