November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. In recognition of this month, a proclamation to the City of Grand Junction, Montrose, Collbran and multiple municipals in Delta County were presented to HopeWest.

The people across western Colorado have created a nonprofit organization at its best – one that is truly owned by its communities and defined by those who contribute. The lives transformed are many and for that, we thank you.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS,

For more than 25 years, HopeWest has been our community-owned, nonprofit organization where people turn when facing life’s most difficult times; and

WHEREAS,

As a nationally recognized hospice, palliative care, and adult and children’s bereavement program, HopeWest provides care to more than 2,000 individuals each year. With every year, the need for HopeWest services are growing; and

WHEREAS,

Every citizen can play a role in helping both patients and their caregivers by supporting the mission of HopeWest through volunteer service and gifts; and

WHEREAS,

This public declaration celebrates our community’s unique spirit of helping each other every day and honors the compassion of the many nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, physicians, counselors, registered nurses, and volunteers at HopeWest; and

WHEREAS,

Hospice and Palliative Care Month presents a unique opportunity to increase awareness of these programs and honor all who make them possible.
