Colorado End-of-Life Options Act
Medical Aid in Dying
In November 2016, Colorado voters passed the Colorado End-of-Life Options Act that permits terminally ill adults to request and receive prescribed medication for the purpose of ending life. Under the Act, healthcare providers are not required to assist qualified patients in ending their lives.
As a hospice organization, we specialize in bringing dignity, comfort and control to the end of life, until our patient’s natural death. For this reason, HopeWest has chosen to opt out of participation.
HopeWest will continue to support patients in making informed healthcare decisions and honoring their end-of-life wishes.
