Gloria Lynn Carey, beloved sister and Aunt, passed into the presence of Jesus Christ our Lord on 9/23/25 at 11:30 pm at the age of 76, after her battle with cancer came to an end.

Gloria was born in Seattle, Washington, on January 27, 1949, to Howard B Carey Jr. and Anna Bernice Carey.  The family relocated to Southern California, where she spent much of her childhood.

As a young adult, she initially pursued nursing before switching to educational studies and earning her teaching degree from Bob Jones University.  She taught for 50 years and was especially proud of the work she did when she filled the roles of teacher and vice principal at Midway Baptist Christian School, serving grades K-12.  She spent many of her years as a Resource Teacher helping students with learning disabilities excel.  She also taught piano and directed children’s musicals and choirs for many years.

Gloria moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, in 2012, where she continued to teach piano lessons, made many new friends, and spent time with her family.  She spent the past four years attending and playing piano for Monument Presbyterian church.  She made many cherished friendships while in attendance there.

From a young age, Gloria made a decision to give her heart to the LORD Jesus Christ. Throughout her life, she grew in her faith and pursued a closer walk with God.  In her final days, her faith in Jesus was a steadfast anchor that gave her deep peace.

Gloria was a gifted musician.  She played piano and organ throughout her life.  One of her most treasured opportunities came when she traveled to Germany and the British Isles with the choir from First Presbyterian Church. It had been a spectacular once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that allowed her to play piano in some of the grand cathedrals.

Gloria was an active participant in the lives of her nieces and nephews, as well as her great nieces and nephews.  She valued each of them and took special joy in being a part of their lives.

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Bernice, and her father, Howard Bronson Carey Jr., and is survived by her brother, Howard B. Carey III, and his wife, Judi, and their three children and grandchildren, who look forward to the day they meet again in the presence of God, their savior Jesus Christ.

Celebration of Life service will be held on October 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at Monument Presbyterian Church, 2020 S. Broadway, Grand Junction, CO. 81507.
