Submitted by James D. Stavast
Deborah (Deb) Lynn Stavast passed away with her husband and family by her side on September 20th, 2022. She was 68 years old. Deb was born January 11th, 1954, by Dave and Marilyn Brubaker in Ashland, Ohio, and grew up on a farm.

Deb is survived by the love of her life James (Jim) D. Stavast. They were together and best friends for 40 years. Jim and Deb met in 1982 in Grand Junction, CO., and married in 1986 in Las Vegas, NV. They spent several years living in Long Beach, California, and Durango, Colorado, before settling back in Grand Junction, where they met.

Deb was happiest when she was camping in the great outdoors with her husband and children. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and cooking. She was an amazing cook and loved to try new recipes and modify them to suit her family’s palate. Of course, there were always family favorites that have become a tradition. She infused her love into every dish she prepared. Deb also loved animals, especially horses, where she spent time training and riding trails with her horse named Madeline. She also always had a dog, cat, or both. She was the heart of the family, and an amazing Mom, Partner, and friend.

She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Brubaker, 88; her sister Linda Anderson 66; her five children, Sherri Payne, 48; Nanci Holmes, 46; Carri Piersall, 44; Jarrett Stavast, 35, and Mathew Stavast, 29, as well as two grandchildren, Aspen Piersall, 26, and Tristan Piersall, 23.

She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
