Given the choice, most of us would prefer to die at home. But where do we go, what do we do, when that choice is not possible?
The first of its kind on the Western Slope, the Hospice Care Center provides a comfortable, home-like environment for patients and their families and focuses on intensive medical end-of-life care for patients who can no longer be at home, but would rather not be hospitalized.
Each of the rooms provide a living space for families to “be” – where they can spend time together and be close to the patient. Family members can stay in the large comfortable rooms with the patient or leave the care to the staff when they want to take a break and rest at home. Pets, too, are able to visit!
Additional amenities include living rooms for larger families to get together and a kitchen where they can prepare a special meal. For those who desire the comfort and quiet of a spiritual place, a chapel is also located in the building. The Hospice Care Center and its trained staff provide short-term care in a home-like setting in the most difficult times. Our approach to care includes comprehensive physical, emotional, social and spiritual support.
